1968 World Series: Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Cardinals

About the only mistake the Cardinals made in Game 1 of the 1968 World Series occurred in the third inning. Dal Maxvill opened the inning with a walk and was sacrificed to second. Lou Brock grounded to Denny McLain and Maxvill started for third base but changed his mind. McLain fired the ball to shortshop Mickey Stanley who tagged Maxvill trying to get back to second.
