Summer Discovery Cruises crew member Michelle Lamour, 23, of Monroe, and Director Steve Stewart, of Clinton Township, cast off the line from the North Marina. Twenty-one adults and children, including crew members, board the Clinton vessel for a two-hour educational cruise on Lake St. Clair. The Clinton is a 44-foot-long excursion vessel owned and operated by Clinton River Cruises. In partnership with MSU Extension, Michigan Sea Grant, Metroparks, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, cruises include focuses such as fisheries, weather, lighthouses, shipwrecks and Lake St. Clair history, among other subjects. On Wednesday, July 27, 2011, the cruise leaves from the North Marina at Metro Beach Metropark in Harrison Township and meets up with The Channel Cat, a DNR fisheries research vessel, trolling for lake sturgeon and other aquatic life.
